Visiting the Magaliesberg mountains
The cableway offers visitors a chance to see the Hartbeespoort Dam and surrounding valleys and hills from high atop the Magaliesberg mountains.
The cableway is open 7 days a week from 8:30am to 4:30pm. By special arrangement conferencing and events can be organised.
The cableway dates back to the early seventies and major upgrades have taken place over the last 2years, including new gondolas and new galvanised cabling, produced by Swiss company Fatzer AG, was installed, and the cableway was fitted and re-engineered according to Canadian Standards Association specifications. Fourteen hi-tech cable cars, designed to ferry six passengers at a time and able to transport up to 500 people per hour (round trip), are ready to give visitors a world-class aerial cableway experience.
Located in the Magaliesburg village area on the banks the Magalies River is Magalies Manor. This tranquil setting will enhance your conference and increase your productivity!32 Double rooms ensure a relaxing and comfortable conference getaway destination, the conference room and smaller breakaway rooms are professionaly furnished and kitted out for your meeting.

Ibis River retreat
Snuggled in the Rhenosterspruit Nature Reserve near Hartbeespoort Dam is the Ibis River Retreat. The 5 spacious and charming cottages are located near the rivers edge. Each is fully furnished with excellent finishes. The cosy lounges have jet master fireplaces for those chilly winter evenings and the cottages all have their own private terrace with loungers. Hekpoort Heksie chillis and sauces
Driving down the hill into Magaliesburg village, on the right hand side (just before the railway line), is the home of Hekpoort Heksie. The shop offers a wide variety of home made chillis and sauces as well as other deli delights to make your mouth water and your stomach ask for more! Chicken pies and home made frozen foods are also available at this classic country shop. The last weekend in May (2013) is the Magalies Monster mountain bike race, this is held in the Buffelspoort Valley near to the Buffelspoort Dam. The race has several categories, 20km-40km-70km, and is a test of your endurance in the Magaliesberg mountains!
The race terrain varies from rocky to sandy, descents to steep ascents and the 70km race includes the famous Magalies Monster climb to the top of the mountains and down again towards Sparkling Waters in the Valley.
